Funerals Are About Your Family

The tradition of honoring the life of a loved one while supporting those who are left to grieve has been with us since time began. Funerals are a chance for friends and family to remember the life of one who has passed on and at the same time begin the process of healing. Finding closure is a significant part of the ability to continue on living and yet, experience once again the ability to find joy in the recollection of fond memories. Funerals allow us an opportunity to express the pain of a loss and begin to heal.

There is not a right or wrong way to celebrate the life of a loved one. The ceremony you chose can speak directly to your relationship with that person. With virtually unlimited options available you can decide what is right for you and your family. The more you customize your tribute the more meaningful it can be for those involved. Funerals and memorial services can be as diverse as the individual they commemorate. We believe that it is imperative to spend time with each family in an attempt to get to know their loved one, whether by stories and unique experiences, or history and special interests so that we can best direct them to the most fitting tribute to that special life.

Time and Location

The time and location of a celebration can be determined primarily by you. An evening Mass, a Saturday traditional Chapel Service or a daytime Memorial Service are just some of the almost limitless possibilities available.

Personalization Services

A funeral or memorial service can be traditional or absolutely unique. It can be intimate or formal. The same traditions, songs or stories that had meaning to a loved one will also be meaningful to those who are there to celebrate that life. Many people like to display photos as well as items with personal identity such as car keys, or items from a hobby. Our only goal is to help you tell your loved one's story. We will assist you in designing an experience that reflects your family’s wishes and honors the spirit of the person you wish to celebrate.

Traditional Burial or Simple Cremation

Many families are fairly clear on which type of disposition they prefer for a loved one. For others it can be a point of contention within the family. When the deceased has made it clear that one type is preferred over the other this choice is usually straight forward. However, in many cases this important decision is left to the family.

Traditional burial typically involves the process of preserving and preparing the body to be present, whether closed or open casket, at a service to honor the deceased. A casket is chosen for the final resting place and placement is made in the cemetery grounds or a crypt. A memorial marker will provide a place for family and friends to gather for generations to come to pay respect to a life worth remembering.

Cremation is chosen by families and individuals as an alternative to traditional burial. The reasons vary and may include personal or religious beliefs. It is important to remember that cremation is typically the beginning of the process of memorializing a loved one. If cremation is chosen you will need to decide where the cremated remains will be placed. A niche at a cemetery is a common choice as well as burial in the cemetery grounds. Others choose to purchase a decorative urn to display in a home or office.

It is important to remember that congregating with friends and family is still a significant event in honoring a life, expressing emotions and sharing comfort, irrespective of the choice of Cremation or Traditional Burial.

of our gardens allow for upright markers while others require the marker to be flat. Whatever your preference, we have a location to accommodate you. Memorial markers have long been considered both prestigious and personal.

Mausoleums

Mausoleums are an above ground burial or entombment that provides an alternative to the ground burial. Various options include an exclusive environment, such as private, family or community mausoleum as well as cremation niches. Price ranges vary significantly depending on location making this option an affordable alternative for most families. Mausoleum entombment eliminates the expense of an outer burial container. Private mausoleums are a prestigious structure that accommodates several family members and can be virtually as small or large as you choose. Private mausoleums allow for a mixture of casket entombments and placement of cremated remains in a niche. Custom designs allow lifetime achievements to be a lasting tribute to a family name.

Community Mausoleums

Community mausoleums offer the beauty of above ground burial of caskets or cremated remains.

Many of our community mausoleums offer crypts that are inside a clean and dry building allowing a significant flexibility for visitation.

Cremation

Cremation is a process whereby a body is reduced to its natural elements through a process of incineration. After this process is completed there are a variety of options with respect to the disposition of the cremated remains. Cremated remains can be buried, placed in a niche, scattered in appropriate areas or taken home and placed on a shelf. Many families choose to divide up the cremaited remains and place them in smaller keepsake urns or place small amounts in our special jewelry. Other options include cremation benches and scattering gardens. Cremation also allows the flexibility of conducting services as family schedules allow.

Cremation Benches

Cremation benches are made of granite and provide a permanent memorial to your loved one.

A Lifetime of Love

Each person has an individual story to tell. How they lived, what they believed in and the people they loved. Every generation significantly effects the generations of the future. Your loved one’s story might focus on the generation that they grew up in and how that generation changed the world. They may have lived through a unique and interesting experience or had a special love story. Was there an exceptional talent like cooking, sewing or fixing things? Maybe there was a particular achievement. It could be that their story is just about the simple person that worked hard, loved unconditionally and left a huge hole in the lives of those they left behind.

Whatever the story is, it needs to be told. We provide families the ability to capture, for all time, this deeply personal piece of history. We will work with you to insure that you can tell your story with meaningful expression to capture the lifetime of love.

Gathering

Historically, funerals have been held in a church or funeral home. Loved ones have come together to remember a life well lived, and to find comfort and support from friends and family. Presently many families are choosing to hold their service in a whole range of localities. Gathering in a place that was special provides an emotional backdrop to celebrate the unique life of your loved one. Tributes can range from a simple chapel setting to a limitless number of non-traditional venues. You might choose a local golf club house, a summer cabin, a picturesque lake setting or a favorite restaurant. Let the lifetime you are celebrating guide you in your choices. Our professional funeral counselors can make this a memorable celebration, a last goodbye worth remembering.

Regardless of where or how you choose to gather you will want to make it meaningful for all of those who have gathered to reflect on this life. A poem, a special song or an unusual story can make an otherwise seemingly impersonal service blossom with meaning.

Video Tribute

Perhaps one of the greatest developments in the funeral industry in recent years has been the video tribute. By combining personal pictures and a customized selection of songs an extraordinary piece of artistic memorabilia is created. Nowhere is there another just like it. By including actual photos of a person’s life story together with songs that were meaningful to that person a product is fashioned that will evoke warm memories, not only for the service, but for all time. A picture of grandma helping make that holiday special or grandpa playing with the grandkids secures these everlasting memories where they can be viewed by future generations. Copies are made available so that, forever, countless friends and family members can watch this precious DVD to remember and honor a lifetime of love.

It matters not who you are, family is the one thing we all have in common. Our heritage plays a vital role in each of our lives. History is replete with examples that show the importance of family unity and its influence on funeral customs across all cultures and faiths. From today’s war memorials to the pyramids of ancient Egypt and the Taj Mahal, monuments have been commissioned to celebrate a life well lived. Today we honor our dead in a variety of ways depending upon our personal family traditions and our unique life circumstances. Whether your choice is burial or cremation we are here to help you choose a memorial that will be a testament to the value you place on your family heritage. Many of the granite memorials at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park are over 100 years old and will provide a lasting tribute for many years into the future. There is no better way to express the value you place in your family heritage than a permanent marker and family cemetery property. There is an indescribable peace of mind knowing your ancestors will be remembered for generations to come. When you purchase a family plot you do more than designate a future resting place, you are providing a place to gather, remember and reflect. Whether you choose a family estate, a community mausoleum, a private family estate mausoleum, columbarium, or a glass faced niche, the selection you make is unique to the individual you wish to memorialize. Once you have made your selection, we can help you explore the tremendous range of options that will complement and complete the legacy you wish to leave to future generations.
